Im getting ready to swap the head in my SPI and I have a few questions.

is there any big problems I will encounter when removing the existing head like
frozen exhaust bolts etc........

Would it be a good idea to chase the headbolt threads with a tap/chaser or is that not really necessary ?

The procedure for torquing the head has 2 series of tightening the bolts 1/4 turn. Whats the best way of being sure I go exactly 1/4 turn it seems kind of arbitrary.

cleanning threads is always a good idea. As far as tightening the head use a torqwrench there should be a torq spec for each series so there the same spec. If there is not I would use 30 pounds on each then go to 60lbs and so on till you reach the final spec may take longer but it better safe than sorry just my 2 cents

PS (use antiseize you well get a better torq) spray PB blaster on all bolts a day before
