Prospective Focus owner. Is it feasible to remove MFT and the Sony control panel and replace it with a DIN (or double) aftermarket head? Many sources (Metra, Crutchfield, etc.) seem to rule this out without a detailed explanation. I'm fine with losing every MFT feature I'm aware of. I would just use the physical climate controls, adapt the steering wheel controls and reverse camera to the new head, etc. Am I missing something? Thanks.

I'll trade you my sync head unit without MFT for your MFT lol.

It would to my understanding I'll do some more research to see if the wiring harnesses or cpu's differ. The main issue would be with the rearview camera. The screen on the non-MFT is unable to display video feed. You may be able to buy an aftermarket rear view mirror with a screen in it.

MFT is not awesome by any stretch, but its NOT that bad. For me if it was just faster and responded to touch better it would be as good as the Pioneer headunit I put in my old truck.
