I have a 2002 Focus and having trouble with the remote locking.

When I press the button on the remote to lock the doors all that happends is that the locks engage but straight away dis-engage. The remote opens the boot ok its just the doors that are causing trouble.

If I point the remote at the passenger door then sometimes the doors will lock but not always!
If I point the remote at the drivers door then it never locks. It just locks and unlocks straight away as I said before.

I have no problem locking the doors using the key but then if I use the remote to unlock, they dont!!

any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks all

I assume this is a new behavior, and the locking worked before?

Have you tried the other remote and do you get the same result using it?

Thanks for the answers but on closer inspection I am narrowing the problem down!!

It seems that its only the drivers door locks that I'm having trouble with.
The remote locks and un locks all doors except the drivers door.
If I lock the doors using the key then all doors lock ok and un lock ok.
In other words, the remote works ok but doesn't work the drivers door, all that happens is this lock engages then straight away dis engages!
help!!

I know this is silly, but I have to ask. You have replaced the batteries in the remote , right?

Sound like you have a problem with the driver's door lock actuator.
