Due to the massive gas shortage here in Atlanta, I can only find regular gas. I know I'm suppose to put 91 octane or higher but I have to drive! Gas stations are running out of gas within hours of getting it. Does anyone know of a alternative like a "octane booster" or someway (besides bicycling everywhere) to use regular gas and not kill my engine? Or someone could just ship me some premium? jk

I know what you mean.. I had to buy 89 last night.. at 3am and there was even a LINE!... I put some octane booster in it that I got from Walmart.. if you keep the RPM's low and dont drive it balls to the wall... you should be ok.

The guy I bought my SVT from said he was putting 81 octane in for 2 years and no difference in performance or mileage. Ever since I bought it I have been putting in 89 or higher but I do wonder if I could keep putting in 81? He said his uncle has been working at Ford for a long time and he said to not worry about it, it doesnt make a difference really. Is that true?

octane boost doesnt work, it doesnt raise it by whole points only tenths of a point. Just mix some toulene into 89. Google it, theres a web site that shows the formula..for it. Why _uck with your engine.

because octane booster raises octane by tenths of a point, not nearly enough to make up the difference.

you can grab a few gallons of race fuel and put it in w/ regular, just find the right ratio. ya, octane boost is crap, doesn't work. you may be able to run on regular, but it will retrard the crap out of ur ignition timing!

Lol I heard from my dad thats there is no gas there and its even hard to find regular. I know you could add some race gas to regular, but I dont know where to find it, I never saw any in Downtown Cumming when I worked there over the summer, and I know there is none in downtown Atlanta. Hopefully it will clear up soon, if not maybe you have a good excuse to buy a motorcycle.

welll......

I put 89 in mine.. put the octane booster in it.. if it doesnt work.. oh well, dont really care. Either way there is NO GAS HERE.. so whatcha gonna do?

I just sucked it up and put it in it. Im not driving it balls to the wall.. taking it easy and I have not heard/seen anything wrong with my car. So thats where I am at. I was lucky enough to just find 89 at 3am down the street from my house.

that person needs slapped. there IS a reason different cars recommend different octanes. higher the compression, higher the octane. period!

if everyone was turboed and had lower compression, we all could use the 89 stuff. oh well.

shugar, that really sux. what are you paying for 89 now since its so hard to get?

btw, i just filled my car up this morning with 12.52 gallons of 93 octane[woot]
and it was at 3.61/g

Man your lucky! I cant find regular gas for 3.61/g. Its at least 3.85/g here. I filled almost 13g for 4.09/g. Ya 50 bucks to fill up my tank hahah. Where do you live at that you got it for 3.61? I live by Chicago and we have a refinery right by us and its still expensive
