was it simple?

and what is a good way to keep yourself dry when opening the door either to get into the car or out? (after a fresh rain)

have you tried using rain-x on the back glass? I removed my wiper on my hatch and havent really missed it... the rain-x keeps the glass pretty clear. there might have been a handful of times where snow sticks to the back glass but the defroster takes care of that.

I cant imagine adding a rear wiper to an '09 being easy though

well I can't say I have experienced that problem living in Vegas, but I would first make sure the car is waxed up really well and try RainX or other brand of water repellent on the glass.
I think adding a rear wiper would cost far more then its worth in the end.
Good luck
