Can someone that has this option posts a pic of it please. I want to get one for my car, but all the pictures online are of a silver/whiteish car. Is it clear? Does it look tacky or cheap? I saw a couple after market ones that were black that looked pretty good. Has anyone tried one of those?

I believe it's an applique, but there is an aftermarket plastic piece.

Yes, it's just a clear appliqué...similar to the clear bra material typically applied to the front bumper and hood. The ding dong installing the one on my car got a nice, greasy fingerprint under the edge of it, bit I'm living with it. I may take it off altogether at some point.

I am doing the 3M on mine. Basically as described above. Super easy to do yourself, since it is a small flat area. My friends detailing shop just gave me the piece for nothing....

I still would recommend having someone around to at least hold the piece while you spray the applicator, or vise versa.
