Thoughts on supercharging an automatic?

Why wouldn't you get a manual?
Other than the obvious answer... that he already has an auto??

Theres nothing wrong with adding FI to an automatic vehical.

If he's going to drag race it the auto is the weapon of choice in bracket racing.

it will work great but I have to recommend getting a ford racing torque converter and alto redline forward clutches. they will help out a ton, and you wont be replacing your trans every 20k miles.

Unless you do a JRSC or a Powerworks, you'll probably have to do a bit of building. You'd have to talk to a tuner but seems to me like it's easier to use a roots blower with a stock auto than a centrifugal. I'm not sure how long the trans would hold out for you.

the auto can hgandle it for a while but i would make sure everything is perfect in the tranny first and then upgrade some parts and get the converter it will cost but it helps make sure you have a chip with the auto shift program it will save the tranny from slipping

like said above, you will need to upgrade ur trans w/ any real power out of an automatic!!

You'll have to upgrade the trans and valve body/ maybe gear box.
An open mind is like fortress with its gate unbarred and unguarded

go for it. nothing like flash stalling 3 grand out of the hole and jumping 2 car lengths out in front of some gay 5.0.

i'd go for it....get a tune also to make the shift points better and the shifts stronger...look into either building up your stock or save up and get a lentech too

He would only need the lentech valve body? or would he need there torque converter so that the auto can handle the pull from the SC?

Also i wouldnt have to do anything to the engine or
any of the internals or anything of that nature?

i am looking into getting a lentech tranny.
itll cost a pretty penny but know it will be worth it.
ill be lookin at around 3 grand for the whole tranny set up.
with the optional converter and valve body.

Other then lentech there shouldn't be anything really.
The stock standard pistons and rods still good for this setup or would he need to get lower compression piston because sc is forced induction?

Naw, stock internals will be just fine for boost, He will get a better bottom end for torque w/ higher compression w/ a sc.

Ya, you would be fine, I know a guy at michigan tech making over 250 whp on stock internals and it is just fine!!! thats on 15 lbs too(turbo'd though)!!! I don't think a SC for the zetec will make that much power. ur biggest issue will be w/ the tranny.
