Hello all. A cop pulled my daughter over for a faulty 3rd brake light on her 01 ZX3, because 3 of the 5 bulbs on the 3rd brake light weren't lit. I took the light apart and the bulbs were broken in half. Upon further inspection, the base of the light was warped and on the plastic part where there are holes present for the bulbs to stick thru, the holes were oblongated or oval shaped, my guess is the holes (over time) changed from round to egg shaped squeezing the bulbs and breaking them in half.

It appears the excessive heat caused the warping and the holes changing to egg shaped.

I drilled out all 5 holes to make them round again so I could install the new bulbs.

My question is has anyone else had this problem and if so what have you done to correct it?

We've had the car since new, it's bone stock and has never been in an accident.

Thanks all for any help you can give me.
