So I know alot of people on here who live in the states want / have a Euro front plate. I'm planning on getting a German front plate so i reserched into it so it would be a proper looking plate since I want an OEM Euro looking Focus. So I thought I would do a little wright up so you can make a proper looking custom number plate.

German plates-

Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia use a similar system.

Made on https://www.licenseplates.tv/index.php

-The first 1-3 letters are the district where the car is licensed. SLS is Saarlouis, Sarrland, Germany. I picked that because that where the plant is that makes the Euro Focus.
-Following the district letter code will be the emission test (front plate)/vehicle safety test (rear plate) stickers and registration seal.
-Then 1 or 2 "random" letters followed by 1 to 4 "random" numbers.
-Including the district letter code the plate wont be more then 8 digits.

There are banned letter combinations. Most common are Nazi abbreviations. HJ (Hitlerjugend, Hitler Youth), NS (Nationalsozialismus, National Socialism), SA (Sturmabteilung), SS (Schutzstaffel) and KZ (Konzentrationslager, concentration camp) are all banned combinations.

- An area code (the local memory tag) consisting of two letters, the first relating to the region, the second the local registration office. Note that the letters I, Q and Z are not used in this code. Area code chart is on the Wikipedia page.
- A two-digit age identifier, which changes twice a year, in March and September. The code is either the last two digits of the year itself (e.g. "05" for 2005) if issued between March and August, or else has 50 added (e.g. 55 for September 2005) if issued between September and February the following year
- A random three-letter sequence with no specific meaning beyond that of uniquely distinguishing each of the vehicles displaying the same initial four-character area and age sequence. The letters I and Q are excluded from the three-letter sequence, as are combinations that may appear offensive (including those in foreign languages).

Registration marks on number plates in Ireland issued since 1987 have the format YY-CC-SSSSSS where the components are:
- YY — a 2-digit year (e.g. 87 for 1987; 05 for 2005)
- CC — a 1- or 2-character county identifier (e.g. D for Dublin; SO for Sligo). County codes chart is on the Wikipedia page.
- SSSSSS — a 1- to 6-digit sequence number, starting with the first vehicle registered in the county that year.

Italy-

- A simple alpha-numeric serial code takes the form AA 999 AA. Here ‘A’ can be any letter of the Roman alphabet except I, O, Q, U and is treated as a base-22 digit; ‘9’ can be any decimal digit. e.g. AX 848 LK. The three-digit number changes first, then the letters from right to left. So, first plate is AA 000 AA, followed by AA 001 AA...AA 999 AA, then AA 000 AB etc.
- On the right side of the plate is a blue band with the year of regestration and the provincial designator. Chart of provincial designators is on the wikipedia page.

just make sure you don't put the rear plate on the front, because peopel will laugh at you. In Italy, the rear licence plate is the full size euro plate, while the front licence plate is slightly shorter by a few inches wide.

The front licence plate does not completely fill up the european bumper indentation, because some countries such as england use the rear size euro plate for the front of the car too.

ive seen people put the rear plate on the front of their cars here in ontario and were laughed at.

That is not correct. Very few countriess have this. Most plates are the same size front and rear due to costs.

i have that plate for my front. i have had no problems.

Texas state law says if the car wasn't ment to have a front license plate, one is not required. i dont have one on my solstice, no place to put one. just throw the plate in your trunk. juat fyi.

xxMichaelAnthony, does The Netherlands have 2 different size license plates?? Thanks!

sorry but thats a myth. you are required to have a front plate in the state of TX. you can put it in your window in most cases a cop wont bother you about it but thats why i got the euro front plate for my car cause i keept getting pulled over. it all depends on the cop and what city your in if they are going to pull you over or not...

[ffrocks]in germany the sticker goes on back so its not hard to mess up but if your in the states not to many people will know what goes where so really it shouldnt matter but for peace of mind the EU typically operates the same so ill say that the sticker is in the back[gunfire]

for my birthday one year my parents got me a customized dutch license plate from licenseplates.tv (my dad is from holland). its pretty authentic looking, but not exxactllyy the same, very very close though. they used my birthdate and initials so it looks like 07-22-HD. it is my favorite accessory on my car and get comments sometimes from people asking me where its from or "what is that thing on the front of you car?". i just smile and tell em where its from. here in tulsa you see a lot of german and swedish cars with german and swedish plates. i think how unoriginal, so when i got my focus i knew i had to represent the dutch on a ford. i just think "well they have some badass fords in holland, so why not". i gotta say that if i didnt have it on the focus, id probably rock it on a dang kia if i had to lol. they really can add some flare to the front of any car i think...

hello ataru, yes sir, good ole tulsa. ive had my svt now for 25 months. bought it april 28, 2007 for $7995 with roughly 60k miles from marc miller (big mistake, they suck). i actually bought it the same day i found it on autotrader lol because i HAD to have it. in my 2 years owning the car ive seen less than a handfull of other focus svts around town. im pretty new to the forums, but i do also have an FJ account. i mostly used them to browse and research, but im trying to get my feet in the door and meet some other cool people.
