On the Vortech ZX3, how is the PCV valve ran?

Is it to the intake manifold, with a catch can inline?

Also, what about the valve cover hose? Where does it go, and is there a catchcan anywhere inline with it?

I chose a blue hose but you can choose a different color.

Here is one way to correctly install your C-F-M oil seperator.
The above photo shows the left blue hose connecting to the stock PCV valve that i cleaned out with WD40 and some light burst of air untill it rattled freely and let dry over night. The right hose shows the stock elbow connecting to the intake manifold. The elbow to the manifold is glued and will take some
force to come off.There is a metal rod in between the elbow and the manifold alowing you to twist the elbow upward on the metal rod while still keeping connection to the manifold. The glue on the elbow will heat after a few runs and keep the elbow in place. I then used the supplied 90 deg. plastic elbow to connect to the blue hose on the right connecting to the intake manifold.

The lower picture shows the air-water seperator connected to the battery box. The blue hose on the left is the hose from the PCV valve. The blue hose on the right is from the intake. About every 1000 miles i put around half the bottle back in the crankcase depending on if i am autocrossing or not. I hope this helps i see it set up from the crankcase to the air intake a lot and i dont know how that helps. BlkMamba

I just purchased this. Do you need the original PCV hose for install? Mine rotted out and I dont wanna pay ford 40bucks for something im not sure if I need.

let me get this right
for the seperator...
take the pcv valve and instead of plugging into the hose that runs to the intake, route the supplied hose to the seperator. and then from the seperator, route the supplied hose to the intake?

i have heard of people filing down the pcv valve and removing the guts. is this beneficial to this style of "catchcan" setup?
is it truely safe to deposit the oil that is "caught" back into the crankcase?
also, can we get some EXPLODED views of where each hose connects? i have been confused by this for a year now.

Im not sure, but I dont think it goes into your intake. Best bet would be to call CFM. If you install it, be careful. The hose for my PCV was rotted and unuseable. CFM is trying to track one down so I dont have to over pay from ford.

Almost, from what I can tell in the first pic, the pcv hose was disconnected from the pcv valve. One hose from the seperator was connected to the pcv valve and the other was connected to the pcv hose. It doesn't look like the seperator hose connects to the intake manifold directly.

The intake manifold has a connector that routes to the PCV valve under the ignition coil. There is a curved hose that went from the PCV valve to the intake from under the coil. The separator kit comes with plastic routers that i used to go from the old hose from the intake, metal rod under the coil. I curved the old hose upwards away from the PCV to hook up to the intake side of the separator.

is it legal?

is your set up a street legal set up? i just tried to pass a smog and i didnt pass the visual inspection because i have a breather valve where you have a hose connecting to the intake hose.
