Im was running low on powersteering fluid, and picked up some valvoline syn power power steering fluid. I know that the manual says to use mercon automatic transmission fluid, but I was wondering if the valvoline would still be compatible? I don't want to end up putting the wrong fluid in and screw up my pump.

Since the manual clearly states, "Use only MERCON ATF," why would you use anything else?

Might want to check it; The manual calls for Mercon ATF but the stuff that is in mine looks to be clear, where Mercon ATF is usually redish right? We have some wierd specs for our cars thanks to Ford [rolleyes]

that is just regular power steering fluid, by STP....

i have a small leak that i have to fix....i was just going to get powersteering fluid, but i thought id check the manual and what do you know. ATF? the guy at napa thought i was crazy? you think they would have known being a parts store lol
