ebay item # 8076280016 for a ford escort 2.0L SPI. (also claims a 1.9L SPI MIGHT fit). I was thinking about painting mine blue anyway, but I'm kind of lazy so ... yeah.

eBay seller "keystonepowdercoating" sells these for 1.9L & 2.0L specifiaccly listing escort focus tracer covers. Are they all interchangable? I have a feeling they are, but was curious if anyone actually knew.

The Escort 2.0 SPI has a shorter (height wise) valve cover. I am not sure what clearance issues you would have trying to put it on a Focus SPI but they must have made the Focus valve cover taller for a reason.......

Why do you say that?
Sure it will fit. The later years Escorts used exsactly the same valve covers.
But the valve cover breathers might be different with the older ones.

My blanket statement has been corrected....[:)]

I have only ever seen a 2001 SPI Escort motor (with the shorter valve cover).

Why hello there JEFF! Say...don't you have a 1.9 valve cover on your 2.0 engine?

I believe most if not all CVH valve covers work. it's just a diffrent spot for the breather hose. I was going to get a powder coated one, but it's just so much easier/cheaper to paint it myself with the left over caliper paint I have.

1st gen Escort CVH's (and all UK) did'nt have the 3 bolts in the middle like they do now, instead the Valve Covers were bolted down around the out side lip, they were stamped steel (minus the 1.9 HO, that was aluminum).

hmm that has me thinking, the 1.9 HO is aliminum, it must be significantly lighter then? probly does something with heat too, not sure if it's better or worse.

there's so many weird little quirks about the CVH.

seems like Ford could never pull all their good ideas for the CVH into one... o well.

If Ford took the Escort Turbo RS from the UK and made it with the 2.0 long block it's performance and acceleration would be too close the the mighty Mustang, making it look bad. Same goes if they used the 1.8 Mazda GTX motor in the 91-96 Escorts, like what Japan and Austraila get, there AWD
