I noticed today that the temperature gauge would drop all the way to cold after a decent amount of driving. When this happens, the car also starts to hesitate. This happens at various speeds and rpm's, so I'm thinking the IAT is causing the computer to run either rich or lean. Has anyone else had this problem? Does getting a new MAF correct this? I've also noticed that the wires going to the MAF are a little taut, so one of them getting pulled slightly out of the MAF plug is entirely possible, even though I've made sure they're in as far as I can get them. Anyone have experience with this problem?

Nah, I have no electrical mods like that. I don't even have the fog light mod.

the temp guage doesn't use the IAT readings, it uses the Coolant Temperature Sensor readings.

That would be the first thing I'd check, the CTS and wiring harness to the CTS first then use a scan tool to monitor the engine data stream and see what the computer THINKS the temp is.

Btw, I'm not throwing a CEL. This is getting weirder by the hour. Anyone know where the CHTS is on the zetec?
