Update on my POS Focus issues...

A Ford Engineer came down and looked at my car (after I filed a complaint with the BBB) and even though I had numerous issues with the car, the engineer stopped at the shudder and ordered the clutch replaced and said that should fix all the other issues. Well it didn't! The car immediately started doing the same things. Reported back to the BBB and Ford that the car still sucked and I have heard nothing except that the BBB will have to order an arbitration. I have still 2 weeks later yet to hear from the BBB which infuriates me even more that they can't return a phone call or email.

Anyway... my husband refused to let me drive the POS Focus anymore since it was unsafe and we bit the bullet and traded it off for a much better vehicle (and yes it is NOT a Ford). I took a substantial loss on the Focus as they aren't worth crap (It lost $8,000 value in 7 months!!!) but I am out of the death trap and feel much better.

I will still fight to get Ford to take these POS cars of the road before someone gets seriously injured or killed and I will forever talk anyone who is even thinking of buying any Ford vehicle out of it as they obviously care nothing about the hard working people who buy their cars. I refuse to ever have anything to do with Ford again!!!!
If they would do the right thing they would refund me the loss I took on trading my POS off so that I can pay down my new NON-FORD vehicle, but they don't care as it doesn't cause them to lose sleep!

Thanks for nothing Ford!

Honestly calling this car a POS on a Focus dedicated forum isn't gonna get you anywhere. Maybe you should go about it in a better way. You won't get much help with that attitude. Sounds like you are venting more than anything. Have you tried switching your driving style? Have you tried driving in Sport mode only? Have they checked grounds in the car?

It may not get me anywhere but hopefully it will help others who are having the same problems to see how hard it is to get any resolution and also help Ford to see what a terrible car they are putting on the roads. I have done everything I was asked to do and got nothing in return! I don't have an attitude, I'm only being an anti-focus advocate in hopes of getting Ford to open their eyes that if they don't fix something someone is going to be injured or killed driving these cars. I don't own a Focus anymore thank goodness. I chalked us a loss to drive something reliable and safe.

You never answered my questions^^^^^

What did the car do to make it unsafe?

Read my posts (among hundreds of others) in the other forums that discuss the problems these cars are having....

1. Transmission shudder
2. excess rpm revving
3. hesitation when accelerator is pressed
4. steering issues

Its not just me... Look at all the people on here with the same problems as well as all over the internet. If you don't agree that's fine, I have the right to post my opinions in hopes of helping others keep from having or making the same mistakes I did in owning and trying to get my car fixed.

I've seen the issues. And they can be corrected too. I drive a DCT and have been driving it for 101406 miles. So I know the platform very well. I've read all the posts concerning it. This transmission loves high revs. I'm not afraid of taking it to 5k. Going from that, the transmission shutter is just normal. You have to give it gas. I know it sounds weird, but that's just the way this transmission should be driven. Having it in Sport mode helps a ton too. The hesitant throttle is not the transmission. It's the fact that this isn't drive by wire. It's an electronic throttle. Most have seen that a simple upgrade to the e-focus rear motor mount have helped fix this issue. Also a tune too. I'm not saying you need to, but it helps. What steering issues? I for one love the electronic steering. It's very crisp

Her issues don't seem to make the car a "death trap" to me. Honestly, it is difficult to differentiate someone who is having real problems with their car from those who make mountains out of mole hills. One thing is certain: Trading cars is the very definition of dissatisfaction. [read]

That's true. Honestly, I had to get used to the car myself. But the people that complain on here make it VERY difficult to help the people that have a legitimate issue. I am one to help, but this post was very pointless. Calling the car a POS isn't the way to go. Especially when people on here love their MK3s.

Probably a recalled GM product which probably actually IS more likely a death trap [hihi]

Death trap - lol - after being struck and spun by a semi trailer and then broadsided by another truck in my '12, I can honestly state this car is a little tank. I walked away and bought another one, a '14.

From what I've seen of various accidents with these cars, these cars are GREAT at handling wrecks! I didn't think they would be that good, but man, Ford really knocked it out of the park in terms of safety

This post after I read it, and re-read it, is just so ridiculous. OP obviously doesn't know how to drive the car, and is posting it in a Focus dedicated forum. What a troll. Also the fact that they can't use proper grammar.

Dang Jose, I wish they had a smiley for "stirring the pot" so to say haha. You seem to enjoy doing it.

But I do have to agree with you. Everything I have read about the DCT has 2 sides. Those who like and those who hate. Its very temperamental is seems like but once you figure it out it seems to be enjoyable.

That being said I will stick with my MK1[twothumbs]

Haha well hey, I'm gonna defend this car for what it is. A well rounded car. But I must say, the MK1s are awesome! I myself had one :)

Very well said. She also went to a Buick, which doesn't make a C segment vehicle. Not that one has to move from a Focus to another C segment vehicle. But when one is replacing a Focus because they don't like, I would expect one to move to another compact.

And the $8k loss is another thing she was griping about. She should be thankful she and her husband have money to burn.

Must be nice to have that kinda money to throw down just because you don't like how a car drives. Cause everything she has explained is easily fixable just by switching her driving style. I still don't know what the issue was with the steering, but I'm sure a lot of MK3 owners can agree that a strong point with this vehicle is the steering.
