ok, i'm about to replace my spark plugs & wires...what do you guys/girls recommend???

NGK Iridium plugs, FR 10mm plug wires. I have the SD coil and live wires and happy with them but I have been reading that the FR wires with a stock coil are just as good (and way cheaper).

Focusnewb, I completely agree with your reply. Others have noted that the SD coil is not necessary and is not easy to install -- requiring spacer washers, leaving very little clearance for the wires on the coil. I have NGK Iridium plugs and 8mm FS wires. After testing the FS wires with an ohmmeter and finding that wires were poorly matched I went back to the stock wires. I could not find a site selling 10mm FR wires that fit the SPI stock coil. Can anyone post a link? Or provide instructions for crimping the stock wire connectors onto a set of performance wires? Should we use 9mm escort wires? Go with the SD coil and live wires and use the coil bracket off of an escort?

I was able to mount mine without any spacers or anything. The coil fits on the stock bracket, it just doesn't have as much thread sticking out as the stock coil did. I have taken off once to replace the EGR tube and the bolts were still tight. It is a squeeze to get the wires on the coil completely but what on our engine isn't a tight fit ? (see also: alternator) []

I worried about the coil getting too hot because it actually rests on the bracket which is bolted to the head but I haven't had any issues so far......but summer's coming......we'll see.
