Hi there,

My wife's MK1 seems to have a sticky locking mechanism on the passenger door.

If I unlock the car with the central locking, sometimes the passenger door stays locked.

Before I go through the hassle and giant sticky mess of taking the door card off and poking around...

Has anyone got any ideas what might be wrong?

My MK1 passenger door power lock mechanism failed--I bought it that way. Not an uncommon problem. Not sure if the US version is the same as yours.

A used part off ebay got mine fixed and is still working almost 5 years later.

I had the exact same problem. Also, the speaker in this door was vibrating.

After inspection I saw the bottom of the door was VERY rusty. No other doors had this issue. I think there must have been a leak somewhere and it has affected the speaker and the lock.

My rear doors do not have a key slot, so I was able to simply swap the door from another Focus the same colour and both problems are now fixed.
