no lawyer involved yet, but I'm not sure how much longer I can wait? My car has been in the dealership since June 20th and Shenandoah ford has taken back loaner, Malloy ford is not interested in even looking at my car and not giving me loaner. I care for 91 yr old mother and am at my wits. Cas #s are cas5115255 and 451178 VIN# 1fahp3n27cL101507. Reaching out to Ford CEO now. Been with Ford cars since 1986, it's a shame.
I see both your cases are currently active, and your CSM is working on this. I will update your case notes on this.

Hi everyone,

6th month into my 12 Focus up here in wintery east coast Canada. Last week my Parking Aid Malfunction - Service Required showed up on the dash... like the photos at the beginning of this post. The difference however is that I can't see anything blocking the sensors. It doesn't trigger all the time either. Like today it hasn't gone off but I haven't driven as much as the last couple of days. Are there any suggestions any one can offer that I can do besides cleaning off the sensors (already tried that).

Thanks in advance!
Just curious? Are you still [poke]having same problem?

Most likely the wire connecters were not attached properly to the wires. It happens. It could make it past instal but weak connections would burn the contact causing intermittent or failed connection. Not likely anything more than a one off issue.
Is your car working now with new harness?[wrenchin]

It's been 2 days since we picked up the car and so far it is working with no issues with the TCM being replaced. Really hoping this is a permanent fix and no more issues. Also, I hope you have better luck with the service department and getting yours fixed.

Someone please help!
This has happened to me several times already. The last time it happened I was stranded for an hour. Luckily, I was at a safe location and not some parking lot in the city at night. It happens at random times, at least once a week. But because it's so random, the mechanic at the dealership can't seem to catch it actually happening and therefore won't do anything. I've already taken it to the dealership twice and they just give it back to me and say they can't recreate the problem and just tell me to take it home. The first time I came back from the dealer I got the message as soon as I got home. I had only had it back for an hour. Whenever I turn the key to start the car the message "Parking Aid Malfunction Service Required" comes on and the engine won't turn over. I keep on trying to start the car and eventually, it will turn on. This can take anywhere from 2 minutes to an hour. The second time I took it back to the dealer I talked to the mechanic working on the car and told him that I read of someone else on this forum having the same problem as me and that his mechanic said it was the TCM. He told me that it wasn't possible for the TCM to cause the car not to start. I told
him that I could record a video of the car doing this and he said it didn't matter unless
it happens in front of him. This is a safety issue! I'm freakin being stranded by this car! The car was bought new, is still under warranty and only has 32k on it and i'm more scared to drive it then my 10+ yr old car because I just don't know when it will leave me stranded again.
Lex1229 posted these error codes for his particular problem " B-11DB-83, B-1D13 11, P0850, U1013" Since this problem is random and difficult to catch at the dealer, can't Ford enter this information into their mechanic technical hotline or something? Because I doubt my dealer is going to do anything unless i spend lots of $$$ and time to get it towed up there. There has gotta be another way to diagnose this problem then catching it "in the act"
Have you reported the car to NHTSA http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchResults This is how recalls get started!

When does Ford plan on recalling the TCM on our Ford Focuses?[mad]? We are a pretty big group here!

I recently had the same problem. I left my car at the dealer even though it was not misbehaving at the time. I can't believe they would not help you!!
Dealer service said it was a transmission module. That was replaced but it did not solve the problem. Several days later and after consulting with Ford in Michigan, the diagnosis was an electrical problem. I was told they had to take the interior apart to find the source of the problem. I contacted Ford in Michigan through this forum and asked for their help. I don't know if in fact it helped to speed things along but i felt I was doing all I could on my end. Be prepared to supply Ford with your VIN, dealer info, etc. Very strange that it seems to be happening to mostly our year and model. I hope this info helps you with your car. Good luck!
How is your car doing, did they have to replace harnesses, was it electrical problem?

I am having the same issue as everyone else on this form. I am looking for help and I'm tired of getting the run around from all the individuals who work at Ford. My specific issue is as follows. My car completely died in my drive way as I was pulling in. All electrical was still working but the car shut off and wouldn't restart. The "parking aid malfunction" light came on. I had my car towed to a ford dealership. After 2 days they told me it was "my battery" and that's what was causing my car to not restart and what caused it to stall. I had the battery replaced and specifically asked the service tech to tell me that the fault of my car stalling was the battery. Upon leaving the dealership with my car equipped with a new battery, it stalled again about 5min worth of driving. This time it was in the middle of a intersection almost causing a drastic pile up. I had it towed back to the same dealership and explained my situation. I called head office (Canada) and explained my situation.

I have already replaced my TCM once and that was a whole other problem. Is this the common problem? Should I expect another replacement or is ford going to try to give me the run around again and tell me it's something else?

I am now waiting for the final result. It's such a frustrating situation where large companies do not stand by there product and do not fix their issues. I don't understand how a major SAFETY issue is not taking serious.. Well done FORD

Parking Aid Malfunction-Service Required

My husband and I have been experiencing the same problem of an inability to start the car accompanied by this error message. The inconvenience is annoying but the potential safety risks to my family, especially when my children and I are alone in the car, are very frightening. Has there been a recall regarding this issue that we may have missed?

Welcome to the forum!

You can check for any recall notices on your vehicle by plugging the VIN in here: Recall Notices || Ford Owner.

Have you had the chance to talk to your dealer about this? Please let me know, along with your year and mileage.

Got this today ...dealer said they wan to charge me $400+ dollars because they need to paint it also.

This along with a tire pressure sensor that has been giving me errors since day one and NOW they say that it was "Damaged by a pot hole". They now want to charge me $140 for that also...

ftr, I have ESP on my car and I'm still under my regular warranty (2012) ..this is BS!!

Same dealership who wanted to charge me $250 for a whole cargo cover because the $14 straps broke...

I'm extremely upset right now..

Think you need to find a new dealer. They seem to be complete scheisters.

where is the sensor in the front located?
I have a 2012 ford focus and been having this same problem for about a month now I can't seem to find the sensor in the front but found it in the back trunk in which there was no fuse in the location of the parking assist spot that it says in the hand book that it would be located?
