I'm just wondering what you guys with Off-Road-Pipes do when it comes time to have your car emissions tested?

Are you sure about that, the car definetly puts out more nausiating fumes with the ORP than with the cat, and I would think nausiating fumes=to much emmissions?

Most states have different emissions, you may pass in some states while fail in others. You will fail visual inspection. You can however rig up a system similar to the SVT. Have a long tube header, and a flex with a highflow straight through cat built into it, then the catback. Some states although, do not alot the tampering of cat converters, and would still fail visual.

FYI and strange enough, the emissions issue can vary WITHIN the state itself. For instance, I live in Virginia, Northern Virginia to be more precise, and here they require annual emissions inspections. However, two hours South of here, very rural area where my father lives, there's no such thing as emissions inspections. So take care in finding out what your requirements are.

Now I don't know if this applies to Foci, but when I was considering an ORP for the Mustang the speedshop I went to said they had dyno'd with a hi-flow cat vs an ORP and hadn't gotten a noticeable performance gain. So I ended up going with the hi-flow cats and Bassani x-pipe--because it wasn't worth 1 or 2 hp to have to deal with inspections problems or worse yet, a fine.

There's the whole environment thing, too--but I'm not too freaked about that. If you get behind almost ANY import that's getting on the gas, especially going up a hill, you smell eggs--that's the overdorked sulfur burnoff of their JapCat. Doesn't happen as often with domestic cats, for some reason. But I hate that sulfur smell more than regular exhaust fumes!

I bought my ORP from Focuscentral.com They clearly stated that there was no way it could possibly pass the emissions tests! You went from taking a "filter" in your exhaust and completely removed it.

Visual or not no way if he11 you'll pass emissions test! Now for those of us who have installed them know it takes about 20 minutes of time to install once you know how to do it... Swap it back out for the stock CAT!

That's what I was thinking, anyone know if the SVT setup makes the install any easier or harder?

i just find that suprising...because in states with strict emissions, ma,nj,cal,ny and such....a focus with a race header/cams...has NO problem passing emission tests...so why wouldn't an svt?

I am not saying its svt speficic, but on stangs the oonly way we could pass without a cat is pull over right before you get there and retard the hell out of your timing, and we can't do that with our cars, I just see how anything could pass emissions if none of th emissions are being filtered.

no testing in Michigan because all your pollution goes to Canada [:D] lol

Actually, here in Tennessee, we have testing in the cities, but not outside of them. I just moved and don't have emissions tests anymore, but we have noise pollution laws everywhere. The piggies will get you for a loud exhaust, but mostly that laws to descriminate against rap music.
