Today, i was driving with my girlfriend to go pick up my sister from school, on Los Angles Ave in Simi Valley. Doing 40 mph (the speed limit is 45), when out of nowhere comes a cop on a bike. He pulls me over, and as usual i am very nice, and i handed him my drivers license registration and insurance. He tells me that the reason he pulled me over was because my tint was too dark, and my muffler is modified. He then asks me if there is anything done under the hood, and i said that i have and intake. And he asked me to pop my hood, so i do, with absolutely no hesitation. He right away pointed out my header, and said, "ok sir please get back in your car". So i do, and he tells me that he's going to look under my car. He comes back to me, and asks me if I'm running a cat, and i hesitate for a moment, and he says it should be somewhere under the car. So now i know that this guy doesn't have a clue where the cat on a focus is, so i simply say, "i don't know, i believe so, but a shop did all my work, i just moved here in june". So he says ok and walks back to his bike and grabs some papers and goes and stands in the shade while he writes things up. By now, I'm totally feeling horrible, because i have already gone through this and i cant imagine doing this again. So, my girlfriend and i hold hands and pray that this will turn out alright, or if it doesn't, that ill have the strength to not get too upset.
He comes back about ten minutes later, and gives me the bad news. He wrote me up for modified emissions, which is non correctable, which means i have to go to a state referee again, after i put my engine back to stock. And for tinted windows. But he wrote that as correctable, so I'm hopping that i can have one of my friends who's a cop, sign that off, so i don't have to tear off my tint.
So thats my little story for today. I guess that i brought this upon myself by trying to make my car fast, but by also breaking the law by doing so.
So after this has happened twice in three months, i begin to ask the question, Isn't this America? Aren't we a free nation? I'm just trying to have a quick fun little car, while other people are bombing airplanes and robbing gas stations. I'm not even driving fast, and when i do, I'm diligently trying to do so safely while putting only my life at risk. I do understand that there are laws, but why cant i have dark windows to keep my car cool while I'm at school all day? And why out of the four people that drove past me going at least 50 mph, while i was getting pulled over, did they get away just fine? I just wish i could have been some 50 year old guy, because i know, i would have been just fine. Nobody gives older guys shit for their cars, why does the younger crowed get their ass kicked for nothing???
