Oookkaaay every 10k kms or so i gotta replace a MAF sensor ... gives me a DTC ford says its the maf , it gets changed 240$ floats out of my wallet an problem goes away for 4 mths then the cycle begins again.

i heard there is also a Barometric pressure sensor ... if the car has it ...where is it so i can strangle it lol

AeroStudent : you seem to be the duratec guru lol any idea's?

ive been piecing together the 351 swap kit all i need now is the transmission an a decent set of tires an 3 mths to build it (roll cage an all the other safty stuff)

currently driving my Chevette un till issue is fixed "no A/C really really REALLY bites"

if you keep putting mafs on there is another problem, a loose connection shorting out and cuasing the maf to go? there is another problem.

lol the 1.6L wasn't bad i did mod it a fair bit . goes like hell with the 6 in it focus cant catch it but that will some day change great sleeper Rice buckets dont know what hit em LOL

ive checked all the conections cleaned them an still no improvment .

hmm have you cleaned any of the maf's? if you live in a dirty area, they will get dirty much quicker than they are supposed to. But it could also be a short somewhere

What are you running as far as an intake?

Is it something homemade?

It says Steeda SRI in his sig, so I am assuming that.


I dont think its the problem though b/c there are so may people running the same and have no issue. Maybe what zack said could be right, or is the filter damaged and letting in bigger particals?

Anyhoo, isn't this still under waranty? Even if it isn't, why are you paying for a new MAF everytime it brakes? Wouldn't that part be under waranty?

B/c he has a intake on it, the dealer just says oh well that is causing it to foul out so pay up.

^^ right on the money , ive cleaned this one twice an it seemed i got a fair power increase ( or regained lost response)

engine light still on thow so i guess im takin the entire harness that has any connection witht he maf out an inspect everything .

the vette isnt bad . but its still no replacement for the focus

Bix, this site doesn't have a whole lot of knowledgable people on the duratec, so I'm helping out a little here.

Don't worry, the 'Jet is still my home.


I'm going to bet the filter is overoiled in the intake.

Hey haunted how's it going? I see you still have the Focus. I finally got an exhaust, MBRP. And am taking part in the Crane cam group buy. I see you've put the stage 2s in and was wondering how smooth the car is running. I've ordered stage 1s but if Steeda is able to tune stage 2's with a smooth idle I will go that route. So how does your car run with the stage 2s? I will be going to Steeda to have them put in sometime in September if you'd like to meet up for it that would be great.

its smooth on stg 2's lil rumble to it , maf issue still presists but now my shofter linkage ( i belive in the trans) has gone screwy , most of us end up grinding 3rd at mid to high accel right? well i heard a "clink" right after the snap from 3rd now 1,3,5 are skitish to enguage where it hits the stop on the shift cable 2,4,R are ok but have alot of sloppy play from where the shifter stops to just before "N" im goin to guess a bent or broken shift fork in the trans

anyone know if the parts are simalar to the old mtx75's fromt 91-95 escorts ? lol i got 5 tranys ready to roll for the race car . if the parts i ned are the same ( I HOPE) ill just swap it out ,

Car is no longer under warrenty (71,500km's) so im up poops creek for a free fix

any ford guys here that can get there paws on a diagram for the 05 mtx75 ? just so i know what im getting in to when i investigate
