Is the header off of a SVT or not? The ford racing svt header kit will come with an updated egr tube. So if it came from a SVT, then you would have to weld a bung to bolt your existing egr tube. If you have a ECU programmer like SCT or Diablosport, then you can just do egr delete on their software so don't get a CEL(but doing this may cause you to fail an emission test).

Nope. You won't have to remove the Intake Mani at all. If you follow your EGR Tube now, you'll see it goes to the UFO looking thing. The Revised EGR Tube from the FRPP Kit goes to the UFO looking thing as well. If you didn't get the FRPP kit and you bought it off just the SVT Header, then you will need to either A: block off the EGR Valve or B: get the Revised EGR Tube and weld on a Bung to the SVT Header. Hopefully you got the FRPP Kit or similar and have everything you need.

^^^ yup... it's really not difficult. Changing the egr wasn't bad at all.. The hardest part honestly for me was removing and installing the farthest header bolt to head. (passenger) side. Cuz of how the power steering line sits it's a major biotch. Since i swaped that out for the svt line it's sooo much easier to get there now. WEll i HAD to swap cuz my ps line blew after a day n a half lol

you can wrap your header in exhaust/header wrap, a kind of fiberglass material. The wrap is designed to keep high temperatures in, which in turn will aid in exhaust scavenging (and not blow your ps line or peel paint on your hood)

Then you seal the wrapped header with a high temp silicone spray to add a degree of water-resistance

this is covered in the SVT header how to's

i'm at the stage you're at, good luck with the install!!!

hey Grahama,

thanks for the advice about the wrap and spray but im already ahead of you, i got the baby wrapped up, (beside the end of it, ran out of wrap, BUt getting more) i got 2 cans of thermo tec copper spray to cover it up btw. and i got thermo tec wrapp tape for the ps line. i also think i might wrap it with thermo wrap then tape it down??

im also installing the heat sheild when i put my system on( i coated it with the copper spray also.

Great minds think alike!

I'm getting a local used SVT heatshield in addition to the wrap and spray. As for the PS line, I also bought a heat shield wrap for about $15 rather than buying the SVT PS line, hopefully saved me some $$$$ and probably a little overkill anyway

now to install this beast ... just need a couple cans of red bull and grow an extra set of arms :)

I was lucky enough to get the SVT header, cat and flex all for about $350 USD if I recall.

While we're on the topic, do you have any pointers for getting at the far passenger side header bolt? That will be my nemesis on this job I think
