Ok, installed my jrsc this weekend, its just the stock setup, with the black box. Got everything hooked up, started it up and if idles like a top fuel dragstar. Then the rpm's shot up to 4k, so I shut it off, started it back up, rpms shot up, then back down then sat there and reved by itself. When it does attempt to idle it, feels like it is missing, and the check engine light is on. I backed it out of the garage, and I have no BRAKES! I have the booster cable hooked up. As you can see I need some help here. Thanks

you have a vacuum leak. i would start with just checking all the lines on your sc. especially the one that goes to the brake booster. if you dont find it like that you can find it using either carb cleaner and spraying the IM and all the vacuum lines or listening with a peace of hose to your ear.

Thanks for the quick response, do you think it could be at the manifold at all, or would that not have the same effects.

No cruise wont do anything hooked or unhooked .If you have no breakes then it some how is related to the break booster either by no Vac going to it (Vac booster line off) or broke fitting or you dont have it run to the manifold to a Vac source

I know it usually is but, how bad is it to reuse the gasket that comes with the kit if it has been previously used, could that be my problem.

as long as the gasket isnt tore then that most likely isnt your problem. like tom said if your brake booster isnt working then that line is more than likely your problem. get you a can of carb cleaner and just spray it on the outside of the vacuum lines and if any of them are able to suck any in you will know and that is your leak

Ok having a couple small issues today, when I first start the car and put it into gear,( mainly reverse) the engine revs up like its trying to take off, if I hold my foot on the brake for a second it will just go back down to normal idle and I can drive the car just fine. Also today when I got out of work I started the car up and it started just fine then it idled down like it wanted to stall out but then caught itself and kinda reved up and down for a minute, then smoothed out at normal idle. Also in order for my car to run right I have to have the MAF wires on my black box hooked up backwards from the instructions on the pdf file I found seems to run fine like that otherwise the car feels like it is hitting fuel cut under boost. My revs seem to kinda hang too I dunno, help

sounds like iac problems to me. but all this could also be your tune. i would reset my iac motor and get rid of that black box and get tom to send you a real tune.

to reset the iac: unplug the iac, start the car.. keep it running while you use the screw on the tb to get your idle about 900rpm, then plug the iac back in.

thanks again for the help turtle, I was kinda thinking it may be my iac, I have my old one from my car,(the kit came with one) was thinking about putting that on in the morning and seeing how that would change anything.
