OK, maybe I am a bit anal-retentive. But I'm doing the first oil change on my 2005 Focus 2.0 and I usually use a torque wrench to tighten the oil drain plug.

Does anyone have a torque value for the engine oil drain plug?

If not, I can use the ol' "mechanics feel" I guess.

Thanks for the quick response. It's a typical number and, interestingly, identical to my BMW motorcycle.

I use to use German torque in my younger days.

Until about 27 years ago when I stripped the drain plug on a Suzuki GT500.

Now I use a torque wrench (and anti-seize when appropriate) and have never had a stripped bolt, or a loose bolt, on my vehicles since.
