So, Just purchased a slightly used Focus and decided to get it's oil changed. Got 4 qts of the MC 5/20 semi blend and the FL400S filter. Problem is, 4 qts only gets it halfway between min and max on the dipstick . What confuses me is the manual clearly states 4 qts with a filter change.
Can anybody please enlighten me.

I am used on every other vehicle that the capcity listed in the manual brings it to the max mark.

For the record: car is on level ground, dispstick fully seated etc. etc. etc..

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.[?|]

It takes more like 4 and a half.

Just go buy one more qrt and pour some (little less than half) then check it and add more if needed.

Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the reply. I am hoping others will chime in with the same answer. Remember, I am talking about the 2.0 L SOHC SPI engine, which, the manual states takes 4 qts.
Thanks.

I used to own a SPI, I think what the manual is saying is 4qts is the minimum you would want to run but to get it up to full 4.5 is it.

Or you could start the car let it run for a few minutes and then turn it off and check it again.

Both my 2.0's say 4.5 quarts, and if you count my '05 Escape with that 2.0 the manual also says 4.5...
