Im not sure its a car that going to require a deposit and hopefully my dealership likes me enough that they can get one for me. My only hope is that it comes in under 35k. Anything more than that and its going to be fighting with a Mustang GT for my attention. Though the AWD will be really nice here in Michigan and its sure as heck a lot more kid friendly than a Mustang. Who am I kidding though the kids aren't going to be riding in my car ever anyway lol

I think there is roughly a 0% chance it will be less than 35k. Def not out the door for less than 35k.
There is always a chance but your probably right considering you can push an ST to nearly 30, well at least you used to be able to on they ford site a loaded ST3 is coming in at around 26k lol.

Its just once it gets over 35k around that 38k range its going to take a special kind of hatch fan to bite on one. Though the STI and the Golf R are all starting around 36 so yeah. Ford may be smart to undercut them by a couple thousand but honestly with the rep they have built for quality over the past 10 years or so they dont really need to.

It is nice to see some of the higher end hatches coming here though finally..gives us at least a couple choices...its nice to not have to choose from a bunch of stripped down econoboxs built to a price point. Now if only GM would get on board with that and bring over the Astra OPC/VXR

Also I say all that about price but in all honesty this is probably everything I could ever want or need in a car. Fast, relatively practical, should be ok on gas, and should be of excellent quality. Its very high on my list at this point. Im still not putting down a deposit on one though lol.

I too hope they undercut the competition. It will make it a no-brainer for me.

Since xenons are standard, all I want are heated seats, and that nifty flat bottomed heated steering wheel!

I would contemplate getting one of these, if the stealerships don't screw it up and jack the price beyond common sense. Also, I hope the after market runs ahead, so I can git rid of that ugly grill and fog light cluster. Some different wheels would be cool, not ones off of a fusion. Id like to test drive one. I wonder if they come in matte black..............

I would be pretty surprised if dealerships marked up the price on these cars. I think the market for the RS is going to be fairly small compared to the rest of Ford's lineup. Most people (i.e. non car enthusiasts) would likely pass up what they see as an overpriced hatchback in favor of a Mustang. Plus, the RS will only come with a manual transmission, reducing the market even further.

just a rant.

when the news came out i was super excited. couldnt tell me i wasnt going to get one. i went to the ny auto show ready to take pics and videos only to be a little disappointed. my problems were

-where are the rs recaros that were in the videos. i dont want st recaros
-wheels sticking out of fender. 235/35 19' + nyc streets = hell
-dont like these black rims, want the multi spokes rims in video
-want the regular blue not this sky blue version. supposedly reg blue not an option
-where is rear fog light?

so i left the car show hoping ford will make some last minute alterations to production model. car still look good. if the rs in videos was 100% this car show one is 80% IMO.

rant over.

video here -- i want this one

Maybe the RS Recaros are an option...my money is on that.

I don't care about the wheels sticking out..but I do agree about the rubber bands and bad roads, Im in Michigan where the roads are slightly worse than a war torn 3rd world country in some places. Gonna need different wheels and tires if I dont want constantly bent rims.

dont like the rims? See above....we will probably need something else anyway

Dont like the blue but I think they're trying to emulate the Mustang Grabber blue.

Unless you move to Europe or Asia you will not be able to buy the car with the Recaro CS Shell seats. No side airbags and they were not crash certified to FMVSS standards. The base RS Recaro seats will be the only ones available here. If you want to import the parts yourself go right ahead, but it won't be cheap. Ford has said the Recaro RS CS Shell seats are for Europe and Asia only.

The wheels on the show car in the USA are the Forged lightweight alloy wheels, the base multi-spoke wheels as shown on the reveal car.

The wheels are only as wide as the ST wheels (8") afaik so it doesn't stick out very far if at all.

Rear Fog light is not an FMVSS requirement, rather an ECE one so it will not be available due to being unnecessary.

Nitrous blue is the RS exclusive color.

Liquid Blue is not available on any Ford, and is the special show car paint used for the reveal of the Ford Performance range only.

Me personally I couldn't care less what recaros we get...for our american asses the ones we get are probably more comfortable anyway.

I prefer the wheels on the USA show car, but I was serious about our roads 35 series tires are not a good idea here so aftermarket rims it is.

@suss6052

thank you for the reply. seems to make sense at what you say. SAD though. would think global car meant we get what europe would get. totally understand the rules that make it not possible.

hopefully when road test and comparison happen with competitors it does well and not lower from my IMO 80% to 60%. hope the awd system will do this car justice in performance dept. seemed gimicky with DRIFT mode though. REALLY!!!!!. we need a mode to do that?

I bet so many hearts are broken after reading this comment, because mine certainly is after reading about the seats. [:(]
