so i just picked up my frist svt focus. its a 2004 competition orange 5 door(more doors, more whores) with EAP. but anyways. i have to get it inspected since it was a NJ car and im in PA. it has no rear muffler. someone told me the rear muffler is a res and the actual mufler is the muffler in the center of the car. is this true? if anyone has/knows the oem exhaust layout let me know! thanks!!

that is true. that piece removed was the resonator. should pass pa emissions. i did it on my last Focus

that resonator doesn't do a whole lot. It just looks like poop. Taking it off like I did looks better but has no other noticeable effect so I doubt you'll have emission troubles

The resonator gets rid of the drone at around 2250-2750 RPM, and it sounds like poop without it, IMO. Most people don't mind it, even I put up without it on my 3" exhaust, but it still bothers me.
