Hey guys this is my first post and first ever ford! Got a s reg focus 1600 left the car on xmas eve not driven it until this morning, As i was driving away as soon as it hit 2000rpm it wouldnt go any higher and fall back to idle! Before i start ripping into stuff is this a common fault at all?

dead TPS... or could be MAF sensor... im betting its the TPS

hmm i was thinking the maf sensor maybe i should try and clean it. Is the tps a top postion sensor ie crank sensor??

no its throttle position sensor, I had die on my old car. It idled like crap. and would register where the Throttle body was.(how open it was)

i had a 90 civic that did that and it ended up bein the coil pack gettin to hot and meltin the inside you would not notice it just by lookin at it.but i dont know if it would be the same on the focus
