So my airconditioning stopped working since the Vermont winter. I opened my hood today with the car running and the AC pulley was not spinning, but the belt is spinning. Shouldnt AC pulley spin? I then turned on the AC, ran back to the engine bay and saw my AC pulley spin for a second and stop. What the hell. Any ideas? Im guessing my belt is about to break maybe...its not loose though.

sounds like its low on freeon. If there is not enough in it then the compressor won't stay on and damage itself or the system.

Bingo. A very reliable sign of low refrigerant is short cycling of the A/C clutch. You probably have a slow leak.
