I have an ATX & If I were to set the window switch of my Nitrous to stop spraying at around 500 rpm prior to the shift points would this be an effective way to ease the power load during the actual shifts to protect the ATX?

you could effectively tune that but you can also up the shift pressure with a xcal2 or other tuning equivelent and have better luck as long as it is a 65 shot or under you should be fine
