I'll be happy to check out some additional assistance, flotrain. What's your current mileage?Just dropped off my 2012 Focus SEL. I will give a full report of my experience after TCM issue is resolved at local dealership.
Last week I went to the dealer and this program was showing in the computer for my car so it should for your car too.Any info yet on extended Tcm warrenty in Canada? (we currently only have 3 Yrs 60k km on emmission parts). My 12Ti sedan is exhibiting signs of Tcm failure (Would not start yesterday with "parking aid malfunction" message even though all parking sensors etc tested fine. I finally figued out that if I put the car into reverse then back into park it would start ok. this behavior pursisted consistently through yesterday evening but today the car is fine - no starting issues - a ghost!
Off to the dealer I go - I'll let
you folks know what happens.
Hi - Do you mean your car was having a similar issue and it showed up in the dealers' diagnostics? So what was the outcome? - how did they resolve the issue?Last week I went to the dealer and this program was showing in the computer for my car so it should for your car too.
No. I don't have this issue nor I had it. I only meant to say that the program 14M02 is in the system for my car. When I show up at the dealer they print a sheet with all the details of my car. This was on that page along with two other program. I am Canadian also so you should see it.Hi - Do you mean your car was having a similar issue and it showed up in the dealers' diagnostics? Hi Infantry - just wondering: Did the dealer replace your TCM physically, or update the software only? Also, was your TCM work done under the 3 Yr warrenty, or under the 5 yr power train warrenty?Just wanted to pitch in on this. At 35k miles my vehicle was updated with the clutch and seals I believe with rev F when it first came out and I first complained to my dealer. They took care of it swiftly and they even got me a loaner car for the few days it was out.
Just recently at 44k miles, wife was stopped at a red light turning left. Light turns green and she accelerated half way through and the engine revved up freely but the clutch was not engaged so the car started slowing down. Fortunately she was able to barely pull into the driveway of a business, and passerbys helped her push the vehicle into the parking lot. I don't know if the car turned off or she turned it off. But the car wouldn't start when I checked it out.
I get the car to the dealer with Ford roadside and before the tow truck gets there I notice that the transmission was stuck in "D" on the dash gauge, but the transmission shifter itself would move up and down P-D/S normally and I can physically hear it, but the dashboard was stuck in "D." Also to note that besides the mileage and "D" indicator, nothing else was showing, not the mpg screens or anything like that, just the lower portion of that center screen. No error codes or CEL.
Dealer got it fixed with the TCM update under warranty very quickly.
Also wife noted that the car felt slower, and I asked her more in detail, and when I drove it I noticed that the transmission is shifting a bit earlier. I don't know if they updated the logic behind it as well. Seems plausible. I like it personally, she may have complained but I don't mind it.
During my drive I also noticed that the transition from braking at a red light that suddenly changes green last second downshifting is much slower, but much smoother. I prefer it but it's something I have been use to driving STi's and this is nothing near that lag, but at least it doesn't jerk my neck shifting into the lower gear like it use to.
And for the PZEV engines, especially in California, it is 15 yr/150,000. Now that beats Hyundai's 10 yr/100k...!Not that it really matters, but the coverages are used progressively.
Everything under 3/36 until that's over, then the 5/60 Power Train, 8(?)/80 emissions, then the TCM warranty extension to 10/150.
Well, even if the TCM is not the source of the problem I would have thought clutch issues in a 2012 DCT automatic would be covered under the power train warrenty. Mine has been.Hey guys, I have a problem with my dealership right now Russ Milne Ford in Macomb MI. Loyal customer here.. multiple cars bought. 2012 SEL with 88000 miles.
Well 3 weeks ago I brought my 2012 Focus in to have the TCM module problem looked at... was having loss of power, seemed like the car was in 5th gear from a stop.. or in 11th gear (exaggeration haha ) at 70 MPH. Well they performed a "reprogram". Under the TCM program. Well last week the trans started "slipping" whenever it tried to change gears.. it was like the clutch remained engaged for a couple seconds after it should have shifted already.. both in acceleration and deceleration .. got a big red warning sign this time . "Service Transmission Now"
So I took it in. Now they are telling me, nope.. your clutch plates are worn out...to the tune of $1600 bucks! Ive argued that yeah, of course its wore out.. the computer has been shifting the transmission with a faulty module!! To no avail.. they are telling me that the diagnostic computer has to report a certain "Code" for them to cover this.. It doesnt take Sherlock Holmes to deduce this is a prob developed because of the bad TCM right? Am I in the wrong here?
I WANT to remain a loyal customer to RUSS MILNE FORD in Macomb MI... but if they dont stand by this obvious problem from a bad TCM.. I just cant remain a customer from such a fleecing. What would you guys do?
PS. THIS is an excerpt of the TCM program which decribes my problem to a T : Ford is extending the warranty coverage on the DPS6 Automatic Transmission Control Module (TCM) to 10 years of service or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle, whichever occurs first. This extended warranty coverage will address intermittent symptoms of loss of transmission engagement while driving, no-start, or a lack of power
I was covered up until 75K miles.. Im at 88000. But still.. this is a faulty transmission, no two ways around it.. Im being made to pay for their bad engineering as far as Im concerned. Very unhappy here.. big Ford supporter.. family of Ford drivers and workers.. Dad , uncle (both deceased) were Ford employees for their whole working years. Disheartened to say the least.Well, even if the TCM is not the source of the problem I would have thought clutch issues in a 2012 DCT automatic would be covered under the power train warrenty. Mine has been.
Exactly, seems to me you should be covered.fedup23 - check the beginning of this thread for details on the warranty extension for clutches/seals/programming:http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/...y-extension-details-new-tsb-clutch-parts.html
At 7/100 for coverage extension you'd still be covered by that, it IS a different problem than the TCM warranty extension you are referring to.

I'd go to another dealer. You dont have to go where you bought your car.Yeah I know about 14m01 guys, thanks.. lucky me though... my car is not sending the "right" code for it to be covered under this. They are telling me the code is sending a "friction" warning on the clutch which they say is not the same as the "shudder" warranty. I feel like RUSS MILNE is screwing me over. [!]
