Took my 2015 Focus in for warranty service in September where the dealer confirmed the shift from 1st to 2nd gear was out of tolerance. They kept the car for two days while they set me up with a free loaner (another 2015 Focus) and replaced the clutch with no issues and nothing out of my pocket. My Focus is shifting FAR better than before with no shuddering. At this point, I'm happy with my Focus and will continue to monitor as well as follow posts on FFF.

Is there a way to tell which clutch was put in?
I had mine redone at 150 000km, it was great but within the last 15 000 its acting up every week or two, now at 235 000

Welp.... Looks like it's time to take her into the shop. Will call the Ford dealer tomorrow.

Was driving on the highway and all the sudden no gear. Turned her off. Started her back up. SUPER rough shifts. Looks like I lost 2-4-6. Drove home in 5th.

Fack.

Hello folks. Been reading these forums since I got my car, mostly for the radio threads as my stock radio went out a while back.

Bad news follows, of course. Car wouldn't start Thanksgiving week (naturally) until I waited and tried again. OK that's weird, maybe a glitch? Had a new battery put in last service as it's been six years on the old one.

Anyway got it to start, drove it home. Tried to start it on my day off, no start. Cleaned up battery terminals and checked battery -> Low due to attempting start so many times! Had my brother's car to give it a boost, eventually it started. DRIVE TO DEALER GOGO. Dropped it off.

Busy week I know. They couldn't figure out what was wrong, tried to blame the radio cause it's aftermarket etc. Backpedaled when I said, I have the stock radio and can reinstall it no problem. Showed me how to get it to start as a "workaround" so I could get to work. Billed me for the hour of troubleshooting for this: Wait til the screen loads on dash and then fire it up. Worked for...

A week. COMPLETELY dead yesterday. Had to have it towed in. Dealer called just now and said they "fixed it" by resetting the TCM. But that same fix didn't fix it last week - and I work fifty miles from here. So I need a car that starts when it's turned on.

I'm heading down to the dealership now. The Service Advisor said, he would front the TCM replacement if it happens again as at that point it's failed (he said no codes thrown during diag) but, I live 50 miles from work so I can't trust that. I'm trying to keep calm.

Wish me luck!

Yeah I don't understand why ford would extend earlier models clutch packs and other transmission components to 7 yrs 100,000 mi. and not the later models like my early 2015 model. it has the same transmission as the early models. i have 53,000 already had clutches replaced at 44,000 so after 60,000 FORD you are making me pay the bill? this is crazy. Ford lawsuit settlement was a complete joke!! lawyers got richer consumers got nothing. well i've heard 2016 models are having shutter problems. Ford needs to extend all models warranty BE FAIR!!

The TCM warranty was extended due to a manufacturing defect. It was corrected and that’s why the warranty doesn’t apply to later models.

just found out recently the tcm on my 2015 is covered 150,000 mi 10 yr extended warranty but not so much for the clutches yet. The clutches only 60,000 5 yr. 5000 miles left for me on that. The b clutch pack installed a year or so ago have almost 11,000 mi on them so far they haven't shuttered once. Time will tell. Wonder if anyone with a 17 or 18 has shutter problems yet with their dct?

exactly what happened to my 2012, years ago now. I concluded from reading hundreds of posts here that even if the now longe gone customer service reps escalated my case, there was no fix. So I traded it before the problems became much more public.
In Oct 2015 I got a 2015 VW GTi it was such a relief to once again own a dual clutch tranny that works as it was meant to. The DCT defenders here at this forum are long gone, as are the ford customer service rep who used to be here. I also own a 2016 F150 , awesome vehicle, as were my former mustangs, fiestas and escorts. But what an egregious thing has been done to Focus owners, who spent their hard earned money and were treated this poorly. Owners who sought advice here were given ideas on snorkel deletes, wiring harness problems and endless advice on how to properly drive it.

VW had their own issues with their DCT's. However they ironed them out after a while.

I had no issue getting the TCM replaced. I just put the two notices on my steering wheel when I left the car. Two days later I picked it up with it covered.

The unfortunate part is that Ford had no process on handling these issues. However now they pretty much have someone dedicated to Focus/Fiesta's and their DCT's.

I however don't think this is only Ford's fault. I also blame Getrag. How is the Volvo uses the upgraded model with no issues?

That is just not true. Clutch pack Revision “B” + Tom’s tune = perfect together.

Not only that. 30,000 miles on my ‘14 Titanium and NO rattles, NO squeaks, NO other problems. Additionally, with the leather package as mine has, the fit and finish are second to none.

Totally satisfied with my Focus.

Key wording "they ironed them out" , meaning VW did what was right. If you read the 5 years of posts here, hundreds of them, Ford has danced focus owners around unbelievably. As to whose fault, I am only focused on the service aspect, having watched years of owners here. I was ok because my loan was well funded and I had cash to move on and did so before all the dealers caught on. Many other owners I have read about here were underwater on the focus and did not have the option to move on, nor a ton of days off work available to pursue this. I hope yours stays running well because as I have always said, when the DCT is running right, the focus was an economical, quick and fun car for the price

Tom's tune sounds great from the posts I've read, but you should not have to purchase a tune to have a car that runs right.
My point is about the service and treatment of Focus owners, going back 5 years. I hope yours stays running well because as I have always said, when the DCT is running right, the focus was an economical, quick and fun car for the price

My apologies but I searched through hundreds of posts here, but could not find this answer. Does this warranty extension apply to Canadian owners of the "Lemon". Im at 153000 km now and every time I get in this car I think it is the last time.
