I am in sunny Arizona, and really new to the Focus. I just purchased my first one last week. It is an electric blue 06 ZX3 with 22K on the ticker.

I am a recovering Mustang addict, and most recently owned 2001 BULLITT DHG #04385. It was a great car.

I am an outside sales rep and will be putting lots of miles on the little focus. I traded in an 08 Escape that already had 26K on it. So as you can see, I really lay the miles on.

I am thinking that the first mods will be intake and exhaust. I would also like to add a more precise shifter, and some creature comforts, like tilt and cruise. I would also like to look into a better audio system as I spend a LOT of time in the car.

So far I am driving mixed city and highway, as usual, for my job, and am getting about 29MPG. From what I have read this is pretty standard. I would like to add a little pep, and am thinking that eventually I would like to add a turbo, and/or cam and head. I will be very careful with my mods, however, as I do not wish to compromise my mileage or reliability. This car is not just for fun, but for work as well. I will need to find some balance. As much as I wish to maintain my mileage, I never met a hundred horses I didn't like. Thus goes the eternal struggle.

I have toyed with the notion of a V8 swap at some point, but I guess we will see what happens.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to learning from you all.

I understand the desease. I have suffered the same affliction with the 11 Mustangs I have owned...

I am really excited as I think it will be easier to come up with a sleeper with a focus... Everyone and their dog were gunning for the Mustangs, but the FOCUS will sneak up on them.

Most stuff seems pretty reasonable. The turbo set up for example will be 1/3 to 1/2 less money than for the Mustang, but cams and heads can really get up there for the FOCI from what I have seen...

I have been half toying with doing a V8 RWD conversion. I think that may be a little more than what I want to bite off for now though. Think the Turbo and some cams would do well... Heard of guys running in the 10s with the right set up...

I would first do the good old intake and exhuast. Then from there suspension and wheels/tires. See how you like it and if you need more move up to the turbo. The FS turbo work great with the stock cams so you wont need both. Then it you really need more go to the V8 swap.

Welcome to the board.

ya you could easily spend 1000-1500 bucks and only get like 25-30 WHP but thats what make it so fun in my opinion, try to get as much as possible N/A w/o a turbo kit thats my goal!

Yup the thing I have heard is to get it breathing better. In and out so I am doing the whole Focussport package with the CAI(already done) then the exhaust, then header and flex pipe. I have heard that can get you around 30 whp and it will cost around $1000[mecry]
