Picking up my SVT tomorrow. Anything I should know about or check with the dealer tomorrow?

Anyone on this forum have over 100+K miles on their SVT yet? I'm keeping my current car (Mazda MX6 V6) and I have over 135+K on it and I'm still running the stock clutch and the car still pull like a mofo. Hopefully the SVT will do the same for me.

Congrats!

1) Have you tried applying for a loan from a bank to see what type of interest rate you get?

2) Take your time and go over the car thoroughly, don't sign anything until you are happy. Make the salesman earn his commission and have him go over every option on the car. Check the wheels and paint for scratches.

3) Don't let them sell you anything you don't want to buy. This means window etching and protective sealants.

4) Look carefully at the dealer filing/doc fee, it's normally a $45 fee but some dealers will increase this to make more money.

Good luck with your purchase and post some pics.

Besides all the standards when buying a car (checking for paint swirles paint on windows [happened 2 me] and other defects) when u get the car u may have problems with it i hate 2 say it but ive had persistant problems with mine 1. Check engine light keeps coming on (its the dealershipes fault they didn't fix it right the first time) 2. CD player jammed 3. My cigarette lighter / power outlets are out (think it may be because of the fact that the plug thing for my radar jammer broke)ive had the car since about late september none of these are major problems just lil pains in the butt

I'm paying 16K for the car so the buying part is all done. I'm going tomorrow around lunch time to pick up the car so is going to be sunny and bright for me to check the car out again.

I was thinking more on the line of recall issues, and service issue on the SVT. Also, anyone on this forum have over 100+K miles on their SVT???

[hihi] What, is Ford giving these things away now? This is like the six millionth new SVT in the span of a few weeks. Welcome to the forum.

I doubt anyone has over 100,000 miles on their SVT, it's only been out since the 2002 model year. There are plenty of service issues concerning the SVT, anyone on here (except me, strangely) who's had their SVT for very long can usually give an arm's length list of stuff that has gone wrong. Do a search on this site, with keywords like "SVT, clutch, flywheel, reflash, TSB..." (not necessarily all those at once, but those are some examples) and you'll come up with plenty of threads about service issues. Hopefully you won't get as unlucky as some have been...

SVT4ME what are you feeding your car to have such trouble free issues with it? Must be nice... [;)]

Welcome to the site, I hope you will enjoy your new ride. I know I do, even with all the problems. Be sure to post some pics of your new SVTF. Welcome again.

Haha, I dunno - I seriously think the only reason I'm not having any problems is the fact that I barely ever drive it. I'm lucky if I get to drive the Focus two out of the seven days of the week. That and the fact that I probably don't push it nearly as hard (or at least not as often) as many SVT owners do. It would be the perfect car for a turbo or supercharger, a fun weekend car. The only problem is the lack of money... [:(!]

Thats good that you dont have to drive yours as much. I wish I could do that. I'm sure you are thankful for the lack of problems you dont have with your SVTF, I know I would be. You are so lucky to have a trouble free car. [;)]

Sorry to be off topic. Welcome again to FF Forums.. [;)]

Congratulations on the new SVTF, and welcome to the forum. I've had my 03 SVT ZX3 since June of this year. I drive it alot! I just reached 13K this week. As far as issues: I had the ECM reflashed for a litany of drivability issues. These included, battery light flashing on, surging in the 3000 rpm range, and throttle response. Make sure your car has had the "YRFO" reflash done. I think they put a sticker on the passenger's side hinge pillar. If it says any thing else, you need to have it done. Best way to have this done is to drive it for a bit, and then complain about a surging situation. Some service writers get testy if you act like you know more than them. (A little diplomacy)

The other problem I had was a noisey gearbox. They replaced the whole transmission, flywheel, and clutch assembly. It still makes the same noise, but not as loud. I think Ford knows they made a boo-boo with this set up and are trying to rectify it. My thoughs are that they made a mistake with this dual mass flywheel, but thats my guess.
Other than that it has been very good car for me.

I don't drive this car hard at all, in fact it has never been above 5500 rpms.
