Well, after kicking around some ideas for where to put my iPod, I finally found a place.[idea] I thought about mounting it on the dash somewhere, but decided not to as it would take away from the clean look I got going because I already have my cell phone cradle mounted next to the head unit. I didn't feel the need for a write up as it was simple. The main things to think about is 1) is your head unit iPod compatible? and 2) do you have the adaptor cable? These two vary and will depend on what head unit you have. I have this one:
Pioneer DEH-P2900MP[hihi]
I know, it's not the best one on the market, but I'm happy with it.[wiggle] I purchased the adaptor cable for this unit from one of my local electronics stores and connected it using the manufacturer's instructions. I had my iPod sitting in my glovebox and it worked for the most part. After sitting in the car and thinking for a bit, I came across this new spot. It's more convenient as now I don't have to reach across to the glovebox to turn the iPod on, plus, the space I found wasn't being used for anything else anyway.[8D] The unit I'm using is iPod compatible, but it doesn't give me total control of the iPod like some of the newer units. Here is where I have my iPod now:
All I had to really do when I moved it from the glovebox was just pull the unit out to reroute the iPod adaptor cable. The yellow thing is just a folded up piece of cloth that I'm using for some extra padding. The black thing I have my iPod in is an iPod cradle I've been using. I'm still using it to further pad the iPod as I'm not sure if the iPod will skip at all being in this compartment. I still have about 8 inches of slack cable that I have tucked under the cloth. What do you all think?[thumb]
