This is a new adventure, I have only dealt with V8's.

I don't have a Focus, wish I had saved my money for a newer car with fewer problems, still want a hatchback so maybe I will fix this and drive it until I can buy a newer hatchback ford car. I bought a '08 fusion sel with an engine problem from an auction bought it sight unseen (still kicking myself). It turns out it has a spun rod bearing, the duratec 23 clunks pretty bad, this was an attempt to get a fuel saving car for not a lot of money. Doesnt matter if the engine or trans needs rebuilding I can do that with the intention of keeping the car until it dies.

All the fusion forums are dead and tech forums aren't very active and it seems that all the Focus owners are here grabbing up the larger engines from other Fords and stuffing them into the smaller cars then modding them for more power.

Seems like the p.o. ran it low on oil & took out the rod bearings....Really helps to remove the b/s.....4 bolts & the balance shafts are in your hands. Adds a additional qtr of oil which helps.......http://c-f-m.com........http://massivespeedsystem.comhave bsd plugs........

Yes that was my conclusion I drained the oil out a few days ago, very light aluminum powder in the oil. Going to drop the oil pan and inspect it for damage and proceed from there.

Didnt realize there was that much of an aftermarket for duratec 23 parts. All I could find was ebay china parts and used mystery engines and ocassional parts from them.
