I just finished installing a new driver's hub and bearing on my gf's focus. The hub and bearing came with a new axle nut. When I install and torque it, should I apply loctite to the threads on the shaft?

Thanks!

BTW, this job was a friggin' nightmare. The strut pinch bolt was seized and I ended up having to cut the knuckle off and buy a new one from the stealership. Ugh.

The torque on those nuts are what, 185 ft lbs or something? Don't quote me. But that's a lot, I also wouldn't think lock tite is going to do much to help prevent that much pressure come loose.

axle nut thread?

My axle nut is slightly squeezed at the very top and it seems the threads are slightly damaged! Is this a way they lock the axle nut?

Yes it is a brand new nut and it seems to be squeezed together in a vice!
