Long story short, if you have a history of the seal leaking onto the clutches, they probably can't fix it and you will be stuck with paying for the repairs. So you may want to dump it before the warranty runs out.
^^ This !! ^^
Been there TWICE. One Focus, one Fiesta. My last and final formal complaint in writing to Ford Corporate Customer Service in Dearborn was actually acknowledged, but with a generic 'your unfortunate experiences with Ford products are not typical blah blah blah.....'. Really? So take that all you whiners on this forum here and the thousands of pissed off Focus owners worldwide, it's your fault, not Ford's shitty transmission. My complaint to NHTSA was met with a standard response which basically said 'it's not a recall until someone dies'. When I called and talked to a Ford Customer Service rep I asked to talk to an engineering specialist with DCT experience and I was told 'We can't do that'. Well, of course. Thanks for nothing then.
Until recently the man I most wanted to meet was Ford's chief engineer for transmission design, so i could give him a knuckle sandwich. Won't fix the DCT but will surely make me feel better.
The Fiesta was included in the California class action lawsuit before it was sold so I'm not sure of my standing in that case any more but maybe one day I'll get a few bucks compensation so I can have some 'F*** Ford' T-shirts printed.
