the 2k mani is actually an awesome design. ported it is one of the best flowing intake manifolds out there.

you have an spi...your mani doesnt look like that i think...

don't mod the SPI...you will end up doing a motor swap or something to get more out of it.

you know every time i post something you always chime in on why i shouldn't do it.. this is something i'd like to do simply fo rmy own enjoyment and because others haven't done it. i understand everyone has thier own opinions. that's cool, but just because i'm not going main stream doesn't mean it won't work. if i try this and it doesn't work oh well at least i'll have fun doing it.

ya, the pics are of the zetec one, not spi, i dont know how interchangable they are

I don't think they are interchange-able. I think that the Zetec is a lot bigger and has different mounting points than the SPI's is.

And devil, chill, bestthaticoulddo is right, you probably will end up loosing a bunch of money in that engine, but if you're gonna do it, then your gonna do it, so whats the point in arguing about it?????

i like to tinker to see what can and can't be done.. i've been told quite a bit that something can't be done.. but still to this day all that does is make me want to do it anyways.. more or less my hobby is doing what people say can't be done.. yeah a 2.3 duratec swap would be better (and i have access to that motor.. but don't know enough about swaps to be sure if i want to do it yet) but i'd like to tinker with this a little.. i'm getting a zetec intake mani for free in a few months and i have tools so maybe the most i'd lose here is a few bucks in drill bits or whatnot.

so you're going to waste time and money on a motor you know you are going to swap later.

thats like laying on your back and pissing straight up in the air. its gonna end up all over you and a huge mess.

you dont mod intake manifolds with drill bits. jesus you really need to think about what you are going to do before you do it.

you think i am telling you this stuff because i THINK its a waste of time? no i tell you because i have seen others in your situation over the 4 years i've been on this site that have thought about what you wanted to do and failed, why would i want you to go through all that again. make things easier on yourself and listen to people that have the experience and seen first hand that it ISN'T WORTH IT.

seriously. you can get pissed off, but you and everyone on this forum knows im right. you wanna do a d2.3 swap. awesome, lets do it. but don't waste your time on the SPI.

btw...a zetec intake manifold won't fit onto an SPI. i could tell you that now.

SPI not worth modding, unless you turbo it which is a challenge. Jeffescort has done it, as well as others so it is possible.

That intake was from a zetec. The IAC on the Zetec is located on the inftake manifold and not the throttle body, like SPI. Looks similar though.

I can tell you right now. Im attempting to do the swap myself with a custom designed one however im getting things ready to see what I would and will need moded. ill tell you strait up alot more than just modding the holes needs to be done. cutting of it re welding on a new flange that will line up to the spi engine and maby some other stuff but im taking this head on. I dont plan on swapping in a zetec or duratec.

[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)] those guys man. If you wanna' do it, do it. If you've got the parts and machining skills, it would be a great project. I don't have the necessary stuff, so I couldn't do it...but I'd love to.
