Need some advice from you Foci gurus, please.
So a guy I work with told me that its quite common on the 01-ish Foci's to blow their head gasket around 80-90k miles, which is what mine is at, then the whole engine goes with it. He said he's seen this happen to a good 15-16 cars. This has scared me just a little (a lot), as my Focus's primary use is stage rally & rallyX/autoX car. Do you guys have any input on this?

Thanks!
Ben

LOL
That "tech" can't be too old I'd bet and pretty wet behind the ears.

The Zetec is a relatively stout motor and will take abuse. I've run mine into the red quite a few times with normal use and have not had an issue yet.

If a gasket does pop you will know it, smoke lots of it. It's not going to take the engine with it generally. But if you let it sit with the blown gasket and the pressure from the cooling system forced coolant into the cylinders at rest, then you go and start it and romp on it, well maybe; but the odds of it turning over are somewhat slim to begin with.

My opinion is don't fix things that ain't broke.
