I had 195/60R15's
Then I moved up 10 215/50R17's
Now I want to change to 215/35R17's. My thinking is that I will be lowering the gear ratio for a faster 1/4 mile time with a lower trap speed. I'm aware that this is alot under the stock diameter, and the 50 series tire on the 17 inch rim is oversized. Just trying to get into the 14 sec zone in the quarter mile. Right now with the 215/50R17's im running about [email protected] secs. Any thoughs or experience with this?
No, i'm interested in slicks and what not. Just the tire size question. thaniks in advance.

Im not sure if 17's would be the best for a drag race wheel/tire.

Always read stiff or short sidewalls hurt straight line traction. The 50 series 17's were really tall. the stock SVT size (215/45/17) is already taller than the stock 16" tire size (205/50/16). I would go with a smaller wheel, 15's would give you a really nice selection of tires and would/could weigh a bit less than the 17's. a 16 will be a nice middleground and you can find cheap aftermarket wheels in 16x7 that weigh 16-17lbs (rota, etc.)
