Ford Focus 2003 LX. When I step on the brake pedal, the high mount stop light does NOT turn on, which it supposedly should.

But the light turns on when I step on the brake pedal and meanwhile have somebody opens the trunk.

I guess this could be the wiring issue, but it is hard to trace the wires since they go through inside the trunk. Any suggestions?
