Yea, I did to a search but it seems noone else is asking about the cryo rotors, so I thought I would ask. And since I am asking about that, might as well ask the usual questions too.

SO my choices are:
Brembo rotors

or cryo-stop rotors:

I like that the cryo rotors are plated so they wont rust inside/along the edges. THey are both around the same price, so that doesnt make a difference. Cant do expensive, but the expensive ones are the drilled and slotted ones, which I dont want anyway. What would you guys do?

I am planning on doing brembo pads cause brembo has a good reputation behind it. Unless you suggest doing ebc colored pads.

Also consider adding Centric rotors to your list. They are e-coated as well and cost a little less. As for pads Hawk HPS are very popular and for good reason...they work. I like and use Mintex AF's because they are one of the few manufacturers that provide a performance compound rear shoe to go along with the front pads.

centric/HPS combo at cfm is only 180 shipped altogether. You will not find a better value. But you can find better pads for a bit more money. I am going to use Axxis ULT's in the front when I do the rally kit.

FWIW....warning the ultimates while being very good are also very dirty. These are one of the favorites of the Miata autocross crowd and while beloved for performance are hated for their dusting.

x2 for the Centric blanks and hawk HPS set up.

A quick word about rotors in general. Unless you are particularly aggressive or racing the car, the extra expense of a cryo-treated rotor is a waste.

As far as the appearance factor (i.e. rusting), all of them will do this to an extent. You can paint the edges of the rotor to prevent some of this, but the rust that appears on the rotor surface itself is SHARED.

Brake pad material becomes embedded in the rotor surface over time and helps with stopping power. Remember that many of the pads are SEMI-METALLIC. So, the brake pad material is rusting. So, it doesn't matter if you have a cryo-treated rotor, Brembo, or Centric - they will ALL rust to a degree.

meh, gives me more chances to wash my car [:D]

I dont think the ultimates are sold for the 00-04. I do know that MetalMasters are sold for 00-04 and also for the rears on all Focuses.

I was thinking of doing ULT front and metal master rear, but instead i will probably keep the OEM rears for now.

I used Axxis/PBR metalmasters on my pro-rally car and they held up amazingly well. They have a very broad temp. range. I currently have them on the miata as well and will be replacing the fronts with new metalmasters in the near future. Needless to say I love them. Very predicable. Good initial bite and haven't had them fade even in some pretty rough use. Price is right too!

Sweet! I know this is gone over probably 52 times a day, but thanks guys for your input! Im glad you mentioned the centric rotors, hadnt seen them yet. I htink i will be doing those now. I know the rotors rust on the surface, but I kinda wanted to keep the edges clean, and it looks like the centric rotors will do that just fine! And the fact that they are fairly inexpensive is a plus. Hate being a college student...

So it also looks like the Hawk hps pads are a slam dunk too?

Again, thanks for helping me out!

yeah after searching a lot i was looking at the centric/hps kit for the longest time until i decided to do the rally kit instead, and replace the front pads in the kit with better ones.
