Hello everyone! It is nice to see people talking here once in a while! I am fairly new to my spi and would like to know any good or bad things about the engine. I use synthetic 5w30 year round and change it every 4,000 miles. My main question is how long do these motors last, does anyone have an idea, or have seen one with a lot of miles??

Thanks for your time everyone and I look forward to getting our SPI section going here!!

TAKE CARE ALL!!![:D]

Hi there miss new......

Oh wait.

Anyway, the SPI motors good and bad sides for the most part are....

Bad-

They are short on the power department.

The aftermarket is not large and mostly dieing.

The car gets made fun of even if you win a race (trust me I know)

The Automatic tranny is pretty weak but handels standard boltons.

Good-

The car's motor is basically indestructible.

It takes to boost and nitrous better than any other focus motor available.

Some parts from 90's escorts are interchangable.

The motor is a proven tried and true dependable one that will bring many smiles to your face.

Basically if you take care of the motor it will take care of you. I had mine for 5 yrs and beat it to hell and back, never ONCE had ONE engine issue.

There are more but i cant think of them.

Well, I dont know if I would say that. The new Duratec's are pretty hard core. And the SVT does have forged pistons so you would really have to screw somthing up to wreck one of those. But the SPI is stronger then what every one thinks it is, poeple assume that since it's only a single cam motor and only has 110 hp stock that the internals must be weak, but we all know that is'nt true.

There are many Escort engines still going strong at 200k, as long as you change the oil never let it over heat, it will keep on going.

I just don't see 400-500hp out of the SPI happening.

Wait a second...aren't twin turbo's for V-type engines? Wouldn't a twin turbo for a four banger have one turbo for two cylinders? WTF would be the point of that? I'm no FI expert here but wouldn't the loss of backpressure actually hurt performance?

Jeff is also my hero!
