I installed a 12v plug behind the glove box and hooked up a 3 way splitter to it. I ran the power cables from my radar and GPS to it and also a 350w power inverter for the occasional use of my laptop when I go wardriving. The install only took like 30 min. I think It came out good and if I ever need to get to it I can access it pretty easy behind the glove box. What do you guys think?

Well what I use it for is to geocache Geocaching . Its a game where you get lat/lon corrdinates from this web site and go find like a hidden treasure. (Thus the need for the GPS) The longest I think I have ever been on anyones internet connection is like 5 min. So to reply to your comment I do! [;)]

Isn't that when nerds go driving around, looking to connect to innocent victims wireless internet, so you can mooch/hack off of it. Usually pedofiles do that to trade porn without leaving a trace.

Wow, you just came off as a total d!ck.

Yeah I can just unclip the GPS from it holder and it does not shut off. So I can just keep going once I get close to a geocache.

I know what wardriving is. I have done it, I never said I havent. Am I a pedofile like you accused me of being? Hardly. Just like everything else in the world there are people that go to far and take things to an extream. I do it get get information from the geocaching website and then I disconnect. Hardly doing anything illegal on the web. I like how you put a link to the wardriving web site like you were showing me something new.[rolleyes] I have been to the site. The site was created to help get out awareness that wireless networks are left unsecure and people should pay attention to the security provided.

I think you are just mad because someone accuratly called you out for being a d!ick. Thats fine be mad, but this is not what this thread is for. If you want to b!tch about something, create a new thread and do it there. I was just showing off mod. Don't get caught up on the small details. If you dont like the mod, say so. If you do like the mod say so. Everything else, keep it to your self. Oh and dont belive everything you read on the internet.[rolleyes]

Dude, you went WAYYYYY too far with the personal attacks. (yes, I'm talking to you, eazyrider_tim) You've made yourself into looking like nothing but an ignorant ass.hole. Pedophile? Nerd? Liar? Loser?

get over yourself. There is nothing wrong with accessing an open and available internet connection...that's how many cities are now going completely wireless, that's why there are hotspots and wifi zones in many places of business, hotels, airports, etc. If someone's internet connection is open and available, it's because they want to share it (or if they don't intend on sharing it, they are just too incredibly ignorant to know any better).

Anyways, thanks for trashing an otherwise informative and interesting thread. The guy did good work and you come out of nowhere sounding like a jackass.

PS--I am in no way advocating hacking into a wireless internet connection, but only accessing what is freely and openly available.

Okay guys, you are getting way off-topic. Please take this to PM or something instead of on this thread.

Thanks.

as for the mod, I love the converter behind the dash--good work. I'm not a fan of radar detectors, and having all that stuff in my field of vision through the windshield would drive me crazy. If it were me, I would try mounting the GPS off of the dash, but I don't know if that would affect its efficacy or not. Still, way to be creative!
