I have a ractive exhaust put on but it is just the 4" tip basically. Is it illegal to cut off that muffler right behind it?I know no catalytic converters are illegal but is cutting out that muffler illegal? Would it sound bad or would it just flow more air thru my exhaust and sound laright?

it'll free up your exhaust a bit, it's not illegal. It will sound a little more like an SVT focus.

you should make sure that you know what you are doing and buy replacement piping that can withstand the extreme temperatures of the exhaust.
