Hi All,

I recently had my 2005 1.8 Ford Focus Tdci serviced and since I have got the car back, the MPG has dropped quiet significantly. I used to get between 50 - 55 MPG (Pre service) and now I am only getting between 38 - 44MPG. I spoke to the garage about it and they don't know what has caused this? Do you have any ideas?

Thanks

The car may have been running too lean due to some metering failure.
The engine may have been recalibrated and is relearning the fuel map

I would allow some time driving and wait to see if it starts moving back to your old mpgs..
#1 bet is whenever even just the battery is disconnected, sometimes the system 'forgets' the best air/fuel ratios, and then relies on the standard fuel map. Gradually it will relearn the best fuel..
So have hope it will go back to your former great mpgs.

Ok thanks Elizabeth.

I'll give it a few weeks in that case to see if it improves. I certainly hope it sorts itself out soon as i've lost a good 100 - 150 miles per tank at the moment.
