So I had an MOT today and it failed, but I can't afford the repair costs so I am going to try and do them myself or with some help.

The part I need help with is the Offside Front Suspension has excessive play in a lower suspension ball joint.

I asked what it failed on and he told me I needed a new wishbone, can someone confirm this?

I also want to know what parts I need and how hard is it to fit? I have looked on YouTube and it seems to be only 3 bolts and replace with the new one.

The garage in question wants to charge me £85 for a replacement which after looking at it, it seems to easy, so is it really that easy?

New "wishbone" is the easiest/best way to replace the ball joint, 4 bolts including the pinch bolt for that joint.

torque wrench recommended for reinstallation with a new front bolt on the arm.

Front control arm is a more proper name for the part. It has the ball joint riveted in place, which is why you have to replace the whole arm.

Thanks very much, I am getting it fixed on saturday and we are going to replace the front control arm

Or you could just drill out those 3 rivets & install a new ball joint w/ the supplied bolts/nuts.
