Ok so I'm hoping this thread will come up with a lot of usefull information about how to get more miles per gallon out of our SPI's.

-New Intake (SRI or CAI)
-Extra Transmission Cooler
-Oil Catch Tank
-Cat-Back
-Screamin Demon coilpack/wires
-Better spark Plugs

Will these help will MPG?
+ escortfocus Adjustable Cam Gear
+ escortfocus 25% or 50% Underdrive Pulley
+ escortfocus thermostat

Please add in any information. I'd like to get more MPG and hopefully maybe a little more HP at the same time. I know very little about how an engine works so forgive me for the dumb questions.

My two biggest MPG gainers were the SD coil/Livewires/Iridium plugs (~3-4 MPG) and the Xcal2 with Wayne's tune (~3-4 MPG).

I don't have a tranny cooler/thermostat or oil catch tank though.

Nothing else seemed to do nearly as much for MPG.

Having said that, my plugs and wires needed changing anyway so I probably would have gotten an MPG gain with OEM wires and plugs too.

I am getting between 30 and 31 MPG on 94 octane with Wayne's tune. On the 87 economy tune I only get 28ish [confused]. When I calculate the cost per mile (price per gallon 87 vs 94 and MPG 87 vs 94) it comes out nearly equal so I run 94 all the time.

im burious as to wher i can get an extra tranny cooler for a ceap price, and a page to install it, heard that helps tons with the ATX and overheating.

lol and focusnewb lol thats odd that 94 gets better mpg then 87?

I thought so too, I am assuming the tune needs to be adjusted if I want it to do better around town. The 87 tune does get 32-34 highway though so it seems to be tuned for economy on long trips, which is essentially what I asked for. It came out something like $112.40 per 1000 miles for 87 octane and $112.08 for 94 octane (numbers made up for illustration purposes) at the going gas prices at the time for in-town driving.
