I have seen several people chime in and ask about this possibility, and what it would involve. It is something I have been looking into more out of curiosity than anything else. Plus I love [wrenchin]
Now I know it would be easier to just trade up to an ST. This is overall probably the better plan. If that's all you have to add to this discussion, please move on. This thread is more about compiling information and discussing what would be needed for such a swap.

I have nowhere near all the information needed. I am merely trying to get the ball rolling, and have a discussion in more detail than "it's too hard/expensive" If everyone picked one thing to look into we could get this planned out fairly quickly and easily.

I will be filling this out as I go along. I will also be leaving questions and information that needs to be filled in, so please help me out with this. I love the MK3 and would love to see that in the future this is an easy and relatively cheap swap (as the car gets a little older).

This is a link to the sticky where you can find the Factory Service Manual. Lots of good info in there about both the N/A and the ST.

Engine:
ST 2.0 Ecoboost (2013-2014): Should be a direct bolt in to all MK3 Focus. This was a factory option so it should
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=22999 This is the engine brand new from Ford Racing. 8K is pretty steep, I would rather get one from a wrecked ST...

Fusion 2.0 Ecoboost (need model years): Should be the same as ST engine, different power output. Anyone know why?

Fusion 1.6 Ecoboost (need model years): Should be the same as ST engine, different power output. Anyone know why?

Escape 2.0 Ecoboost (need model years): Should be the same as ST engine, different power output. Anyone know why?

Engine Mounts:
Upper Motor Mount:
Rear Motor Mount: Is the same as the N/A focus. Rear motor mount from a focus electric is the minimum, and was a TSB for the ST.
Trans Motor Mount:

Wiring Harness:
the N/A harness will not work. It is missing key pieces relevant to a turbo car. I suppose you could splice in pins and wires, but you'd be better off getting a used harness or buying a new one.
I have the wiring diagrams and have been going over them to see what the differences are. I am trying to figure out how to post a PDF in here. Any help with telling me how to do this would be helpful. I want to make sure all the info is here and accessible to everyone!

Pcm:
I am hoping Tom can chime in some info on this. The simple answer would be to use the PCM from an ST. I am assuming it will plug into the rest of the factory wiring. It would be awesome to hear that Tom could take advantage of the factory PCM and make it run the ecoboost engine...

Transaxle:
DCT Powershift 6DCT250/DPS6 (6 speed computer controlled manual, no clutch pedal no shift lever): Probably not going to work. The torque rating is way below what the ecoboost makes. If someone wants to prove us wrong....
Here is a link to a thread discussing swapping the DCT to a MTX-75
http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=449017
Note that this person kept the OEM N/A engine. The nice thing is that he was able to use a transmission from an older model Focus.

MTX-75 (Five speed manual, standard in MK3 Focus): A strong possiblilty. It's the factory trans for the N/A manual. I am assuming the bellhousing will bolt up, but who knows if the BCM/PCM can comprehend what you have done

MMT6 (Six speed manual, standard in MK3 ST): Probably the best option, since it is the factory transmission.

This enters the equation in terms of getting the dash and all that to show up right.

This thread should be the most helpful for anything related to this. There is another thread in the swap page about swapping the DCT to a five speed. He mentions using this to change the dash screen to recognize the car is no longer a DCT car. Not sure what the status of that was....

Fuel:
Fuel Pump in-tank:Anyone know if they are the same? My understanding of GDI engines is that there is a pump at the tank, and then at the fuel rail there is a high pressure pump.

Exhaust:
Stock ST exhaust should work for a hatch.
Probably best to just go to a muffler shop and pay for a custom setup.

Intercooler and pipes:
This section looks like it will be the most difficult. The factory intercooler and piping is based around the ST front bumper. The N/A was never designed for an intercooler. I am thinking that the ST intercooler and piping will probably not work. It might though. We will need pics to compare the two and see. Overall that's not a huge deal. It just means that this swap will require you to invest in a quality intercooler and custom piping.

Interested

Im interested in doing a 2013 mk3 n/a to ST swap; engine, transmission, ECU, front bumper (to match intercooler), etc. I found a wrecked ST that was smashed in the rear that would be a good candidate. After doing the math it would actually be cheaper to do this, instead of trading it in for a used ST.

Hey! Any word on the swap so far? I blew the engine in my NA Focus so I'm actually looking into doing an ST swap ASAP (it was my daily driver).

My concern is radiator and actual condensor. There's a chance they may need to be swapped as well.

Did a little research and from what I've seen, the crate engine comes with intercooler, piping for the intercooler, engine itself, and the 6spd tranny.
