ok so we all know the later models got screwed out of having the mounts on their car. [mad]
and there are aftermarket companies that offer a clamping style mount. Even seen a few DIY mounts.
What I'm asking is to those who have them and seen them up close (I've only seen pics so far) is the mount more/less a piece of C-channel welded on the beam?
I don't like the clamp ideas (yes they can be welded I know) but if I can grab a section of c-channel from the scrap pile at work, do a little work to contour it to the beam, weld some nuts on the back side then weld it to the beam I should have the same thing, right? [???

I really need to bring my calipers and write a list of stuff like this when I hit up the junkyards. [scratch]
